If you told me a year ago that I would be on the verge of releasing my debut book this year, I’d probably burst out laughing. A book about what? Yea, right! Those are some of the thoughts that would have crossed my mind before I dismissed those presumptive comments. The truth is, I never thought I’d write even so much as one paragraph since turning in my final papers to my professors over 5 years ago, let alone become the author of an entire book! But, in just a few weeks, that is exactly what’s set to happen. And, I’m super excited! Here’s why I decided to ‘pen’ my upcoming book Got Debt? The 7 Bulletproof Steps To Debt Freedom.

If you’re reading this blog post, you’re probably in debt. Statistics show that the next 8 out of 10 people you meet are likely to be in debt too. Don’t believe me? Name 3 people you know over the age of 18 who have absolutely no debt to their name. Take a few minutes. I’ll wait. Still waiting. Have you thought of three people? Didn’t think so. The issue of debt in America is a serious one. Many Americans are living paycheck to paycheck (78% to be exact). What’s even more alarming is the number of Americans (40%) who don’t even have enough saved to cover a $400 emergency without borrowing or selling something to cover the cost. There are individuals who put off retirement because they wouldn’t be able to afford the cost of living if they stopped working. Can you imagine that? You work 40 hours per week for 20+ years, but because of bills and debt, you’re not able to retire and enjoy the fruit of your labor. Then, there are others who put off starting a family, buying a home, and a host of other goals because of debt. That is no way to live!

“This book gives you the mentality and the tools you need to finally break free from the bondage that debt brings. If you are truly serious about becoming debt free, then you will be without excuse as to how to make that your reality once you read this book.”

Faith and I had a combined debt of over $211,000 when we tied the knot. We were drowning in debt, and like you, we never thought we would ever be financially free. How do you even begin to address two hundred thousand dollars of debt? Our journey began when we decided we did not want our lives to be dictated by debt. We did not want debt telling us we could not retire or give generously. We did not want it telling us how many children we could have or prevent us from leaving a legacy for the generations after us. We were enslaved by our debt and we had to break free! That required a radical shift in mindset and living, one which enabled us to pay off over $104,000 of debt in just 12 months!

Our story went viral on Instagram and since then, we’ve received an overwhelming response from individuals and families who were in similar situations involving debt. Many of them were struggling to pay off their debt or simply did not know how or where to start. We’ve answered every single question we’ve received. We’ve been featured on podcasts, in articles, and even had the honor of sharing our story on the Steve Harvey TV Show. But, after being blessed with each of those opportunities, Faith and I always seemed to leave with one lasting sentiment: “That was short. I wish we could have spoken more to let people know how we really did it so they can get rid of their debt once and for all. They need to know it’s possible.”

Blood, Sweat, and Tears

Blood, sweat and tears. That’s what it took to write this book. Well, maybe not blood, but definitely sweat and tears! In the midst of continuing to work like crazy to get rid of our remaining debt, I’ve spent countless hours and many late nights pouring out everything I could think of to help you regain control of your finances.  More importantly, I will walk you through the 7 proven steps we’ve taken to pay off over $104,000 of debt in 12 months in order to help you make a huge dent in your debt payoff goals this year. This book includes a built-in workbook with critical thinking questions and activities so you can practically navigate your journey to debt freedom with confidence.

    1. Thank you for your kind words Gerdine and for supporting the movement by pre-ordering a copy of the book! We’re so glad to hear you’re choosing freedom! So much more is possible when you’re free!

  2. Excited to budget this purchase into my September spending allowance 🙌🏾 I am grateful to have such an amazing example in you all of how to tackle my $90,000 in debt. I know this won’t be easy, but I am excited to get free once and for all not pay down then get back in debt and continuing in the debt cycle. Your story is inspiring and hopeful. If you all can do over $100,000 in one year I can absolutely tackle $90,000….granted I’m single so in a one income household lol, but regardless I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks for sharing! & answering questions!
